There are many ways to make simplicity beautiful, and The XX has found their own from the start. It’s been quiet since the indie post-rock band’s debut album in 2009, but it just gave them more time to become a favourite.
Their second offering launches in September, but have a listen to the first released track.
With its clean riff, precise arrangement and a sweet but never superficial core of lyrics, Angels gives us exactly what the XX does best.
I’m keen to hear how their sound has evolved throughout the second album, maybe with some slightly more fast-paced tunes outside their initial style.
We’ll have to wait and see.
